PRICING
Rams are priced on their genetic merit based on their Sheep Genetics Australia indexes.
Kiranda Maternal tiers are based on Sheep Genetics Australia Maternal Carcase Production Plus (MCP+) Index
Kiranda Prime tiers are based on Sheep Genetics Australia Terminal Carcase Production (TCP) Index
Kiranda flock Sheep Genetics Australia data can be viewed online under these flock codes:
Cover rams: Kiranda will supply 1 cover ram free of charge for every 10 rams purchased. This is offered as a contingency in the event of ram death or inability to serve in its 1st mating.
MULTIPLIER RAMS
Bred from our mature age ewes (that were sourced as embryos from the best of the NZ nucleus) form part of the unrecorded Multiplier. The oldest of these ewes (at 6 years), have reared >12 lambs. They have maintained a moderate frame size, sound structure, good wool type and required minimal culling.
These ewes mated to our top recorded group of elite rams have produced our unrecorded multiplier rams.
This way we can continue to offer clients rams with equal commercial merit, based on proven longevity, at very attractive prices.
LAMBPLAN INDEXES
Evaluate a ram’s genetic potential
across a range of traits
Maternal Dollar Index (Mat$)
Mat$ estimates the genetic difference between animals against a production system that focuses on significant improvements in early growth and reproduction.
Traits used to calculate index:
- post weaning weight (PWT)
- adult weight (AWT)
- maternal weaning weight (MWWT)
- eye muscle depth (EMD)
- number of lambs weaned (NLW)
Terminal Carcase Production Index (TCP)
TCP estimates the genetic difference between animals against a production system that balances increased lean meat yield with modest improvements in eating quality.
Traits used to calculate index:
- post weaning weight (PWT)
- eye muscle depth (EMD)
- fat (FAT)
- dressing percentage (DRESS)
- lean meat yield (LMY)
- intramuscular fat (IMF)
- shear force (SF5)
